Could you use normal black poppyseeds instead? And what would you recommend as a substitute for ajwain please? Thank you.

No you are better just leaving out the poppy seeds and use nigella seed instead of ajwain

Used half measure and I think my onion was too thick. Tasted great, my son came back for seconds. We had them with mango chutney, not sure if that's right, but was good. Will make again but smaller

Delicious! I followed the recipe to the letter and it was a great success. My wife was wondering if you could add potatoe and peas to the batter and cut back on the onion. This is a great appetizer for a BBQ!

I love onion bhaj and will defo try yours. I bake mine and use buckwheat flour which for reasons I don't understand gives a great flavour.
